Abstract (EN)

The creativity of the nations, the production capacities, ethnology culture level, the worth they possess are defined by the wealth of the material and moral values and the cultural treasures, within their historical processes. Azerbaijan nation, during its' history of thousand years, that have been documented, has a vast cultural treasure, that have been created by the folk artists and their artworks are inherited by the next generations. The majority of this treasure are consisted of the traditional fabrics and clothing culture. The subject matter of this thesis is to research, study of 19th century Azerbaijani dresses, patterns, and their use at the contemporary fashion. To fulfil this aim, the phases of the costumes since the existence of human beings to the contemporary period summarised at the first chapter. There is a study on the development of traditional Azerbaijani fabrics at the second chapter. There is a research on the traditional male and female costumes since the prehistoric period to the 19th century, with their types, at the third chapter. The reflection of traditional Azerbaijani fabrics and dressing culture on the 19th and 20th centuries examined at the fourth chapter. The designs that inspired by these costumes are included at the fifth chapter.
