The Reflection of world wars the national libertion war and the rebellion of Ağrı in the Turkish novels published between 1928-1946

SUMMARY This study covers eighteen Turkish novels published between the years 1928 and 1946. These novels pertaining to war and military service make up the main plot of the study. The scope of the study have largely been limited and made more effective, by confining the study to the analysis of the novels with the subjects of war and military service and which were published during the periods of the First World War (1914-1918), the Turkish Liberation War (1919-1922), the Kurdish Rebellions (1925-1930) and the Second World War (1939-1945), which have influenced and directed the near Turkish history and even the world history. As it has been mentioned in the preface The Alphabet Reform which was made in 1928 as a turning point in the Turkish social, political and cultural life and the Multiparty Political System to which the Turkish Republic passed are other two factors specifying the limits of the subject matter of the study. In spite of not being published between the years 1928-1946, Küçük Ağa, a novel by Tarık BU?RA, which reflects effectively the characters and events taking place during the National Liberation War, was thought as appropriate to be included in the analysis. As a matter of fact it has been observed that among the novels about the Liberation War of the Turkish nation, Küçük Ağa is the novel that is most consistent with the historical events. Besides that Küçük Ağa has more quality in language, style, intrigue elements, featuring heroes and describing places. The novel has been dealt with, on the one hand, in terms of novel analysis techniques, that is, time, place, descriptions, language and style features and characters and on the other hand in terms of the consistency of584 the events and characters in the novel with the historical facts and realities. Therefore we have come up with two important resources. One of them is the novels included within the analysis and the other one is the diaries, biographies and history books written about the periods concerned. The research is made up of five main chapters, which are: I. Analysis of the novels, published beetween the years 1928-1946 in terms of novel analysis techniques. II. Relationship between the novels about the First World War, and the historical events. III. Relationship of the novels concerning the National Liberation War with the historical events. IV. The relationship of a novel (Esat Mahmut KARAKURT's Dağları Bekleyen Kız) related to the Kurdish Rebellions in the first years of the Turkish Republic and the Kurdish nationalism with the historical events. V. The relationship of a novel (Esat Mahmut KARAKURT's Ankara Expresi) about the Second World War with the historical event. The novels in the first chapter have been analyzed in terms of: A. PLOT 1. Main theme B: CHARACTERS 1. The central character (The hero) 2. The opposite character (The villain)
