Abstract (EN)

A language has a feature that can change over time. Also, Turkish language changed in different aspects between 1945 and 1975. This change stems from the events in politics, economy, technology and cultural fields and their effects on daily life. Therefore, news headlines and news language serve as a tool to observe this change. In this study, it is aimed to reveal whether there has been a change in news headlines and news language in Turkey since 1945 and to determine the content of this change, if any, and why. Thus, in this study, four national newspapers, ''Cumhuriyet'', ''Hürriyet'', ''Milliyet'' and ''Son Havadis'', were chosen to examine in terms of news headlines and language features. Their high newspaper circulation and different political view are the features that make it noticeable among the similar. In the study, the Critical Discourse Analysis method of van Dijk was used. In addition, content analysis and interview methods were also used within the scope of the study. As a result of the study, it was observed that the news headlines and news language of Turkish newspapers have changed from year to year, and they took their present-day form. In today's newspaper news headlines, it is seen that there are short, critical, judgmental features, that can be considered as advertising elements. Therefore, it has become a goal to sell the news instead of informing it.
