The agricultural policy the rule of the Democratic Party from 1950 to 1954

Second World War was a depressingperiod of Turkey. During this period, uncongenial climate affected the social and economic life negatively. Especially the decrease in the agriculturalproduction created difficultie sin the supply offood and caused fanmne. As food shortages started in the big cities, lots of products became subject to the Black Market and the ration card system was started. As a result, legislative adjustments were intensified by the government. The government's intervention in agriculture and trade in every aspect possible caused anti-reactions within the society. These reactious played an important role in the change of government and the rule of îhe Democratic Party started. With this shift, peasants became an important active power to be handled and gainedfor thefirst time in Turkey's political scene. The Democratic Party followed all the policies that supported the peasants and agriculture. As of 1950, all the foreign aidfunds were transferred to agricultural production. With the help of these transferred funds and the use of tractors, mechanization started in agriculture which was handled almost with primitive methods. The enlarged and dereloped the agricultural fields and vital increases were experienced in the production. This study, along with the Democratic Party came to power in 1950 - 1954 between agricultural policies implemented were discussed.
