The effect of the 1960-1980 perdiod's collective memory of Turkey on the individual and its transfer to contemporary painting

From the moment a person is born, they record many events lived around them in their memory. Memories in an individual's life are an important factor during the formation of self-memory, and they reflect the identity of the individual together with the act of remembering later from the recorded memory system. Individual and collective memory, that is, common emotions, directly affected the formation of culture. Explanations on these concepts are discussed in the first chapter. The events experienced, whether they are short-term or long-term, have a place in the memory of the society. These events have been witnessed by the artists or they have heard from sources, heard, etc and used them as a subject for their art. In this context, within the scope of the study, the impact of the individual and social problems experienced or caused between the years 1960-1980, which is an important turning point for Turkey, their effects on the society and how they are reflected in the art of painting with exemplary works are discussed. In the light of these researches, the reflections of the concepts on the art of painting were discussed in line with the philosophical view by making use of the memories and the memory system as a source in the application studies. As the works made in the past shed light on the present, it is planned that these works will shed light on the future as well.
