Pictorial analysis of Neşe Erdok works in the context of the phenomenon of alienation in contemporary Turkish painting after 1960

The main purpose of the thesis work titled "Pictorial Analysis of Neşe Erdok Works in the Context of the Phenomenon of Alienation in Contemporary Turkish Painting After 1960" is to analyze the works of the artist Neşe Erdok, who emphasizes alienation in Contemporary Turkish Painting Art, and as a pictorial expression of the phenomenon of alienation. It is aimed to investigate how it is reflected in his paintings and to evaluate it in this context. The phenomenon of alienation and the artist Neşe Erdok, who treats this phenomenon as a form of pictorial expression, have an important place in Contemporary Turkish Painting. Alienation describes the separation of people from each other or from a certain environment and process. It is also expressed as the individual's being under the domination of others by breaking away from himself, the social environment and nature, and as a result of the mental deformation the individual is in, he is alienated from himself and the society. It has been possible to see the reflections of individual and society-based alienation in contemporary painting. Artist Neşe Erdok, under the influence of the events that took place in her own time, dealt with alienation in her works. In this process, in the second chapter, in order to understand the phenomenon of alienation and to strengthen the theoretical ground of the research, information about the history of alienation, the definitions made about it and the ideas of the thinkers who worked on this phenomenon are given, and the place and importance of alienation in the art of painting are examined. The reflections of alienation on European Painting Art are explained with the analysis of selected artist samples. It has been seen that the artists examined within the scope of the thesis have witnessed many factors such as technological developments, economic, political and social conditions in the period they lived in, the alienation of the individual from the self and the alienation of the individual from himself and his environment in their works. In the third part of the study; In the context of the phenomenon of alienation, research was carried out under the name of Contemporary Turkish Painting Art After 1960, and then the works selected from the artists who dealt with the phenomenon of alienation in their works were examined. In the fourth chapter of the thesis, the life of the artist Neşe Erdok and the effects of the alienation phenomenon in her works were investigated. Neşe Erdok is one of the important artists who consider the phenomenon of alienation as a form of artistic expression in her works and raise awareness as a thesis topic. In Contemporary Turkish Painting Art after 1960, Artist Neşe Erdok highlighted the era and period in which she lived as an important element of expression, dealt with her period from an economic, political and sociological point of view, observing the social traumas experienced and conveying the period and events she witnessed from her own perspective, the effects of alienation on society. discussed its effects in his works. In the fifth chapter, there are application studies in the context of the thesis topic. This section includes the reflections of alienation on practice studies, interpretation and analysis in terms of color, form, subject and composition. While the effects of the social, cultural and technological changes and developments brought about by the age in which we live have been seen in the society, it has also been possible to see the reflections on the children, the smallest member of the society. Based on the phenomenon of alienation that emerged as a result of these social developments, it was possible to describe and criticize the struggle for existence on the images of the child, the conflicts he had experienced with himself and his environment, and experiences. In the first stage of the thesis study, a literature review was conducted on the subject based on the general scanning model. Thesis and similar studies in the thesis data center were scanned and information supporting the research was accessed. In addition, in the context of writing, books, articles, academic journals were accessed and virtual resources were used. At the same time, appropriate images and texts related to the subject were researched and included in the subject, and the images of the works of the selected artists were placed in the text and supported with theoretical information.
