Science teaching programs practised between the years of 1968-2004 the features supposed to be acquired by the students and the level

This research is a study inclined towards to establish the features, the level of the qualities indicated in the teaching program as to be acquired by the students through the subject in which science is taught in the first grade of primary schools.For the research, science teaching programs practised in the first grade of primary schools in our country are established. Accordingly science teaching program dated 1992, science teaching program dated 2000, and science & tecnology teaching program dated 2004, taught in the first grade of primary schools are obtained. For the 1968 and 1989 science teaching program, examines are applied based on topics since the expression goal is not mentioned in them. 1992 science teaching program are examined according to the criteria of setting goals explained by Sönmez (2001). The skills of the subject of science teaching 2000 and the skills of the subject science & technology 2004 are studied with the help of an expert and according to the criterion prepared by a researcher.Based on the findings of this study the results below are obtained.1. It is concluded that five teaching programs, which are subject of science and knowledge of nature teaching program between the years of 1968 and 2004,1989 subject of science teaching program, 1992 subject of science teaching program, 2000 subject of science teaching program, 2004 subject of science & technology teaching program, are put into practice with expansions in our country.2. It is concluded that the 1968 subject of science and knowledge of nature went through some amendments between the years of 1969 and 1971. On the other hand 1968 and 1989 programs are detected as same, yet made one or two topic adjustments.3. It is found out that in the 1968 subject of science and knowlegde of nature teaching proram and 1989 subject of science teaching program, general aims and general explanations about the subject are stated; specific skills are not mentioned; yet features of what is supposed to be acquired by the students are stated as headlines of topics.4. The goals indicated in 1992 subject of science teaching program are partly in harmony with the criteria of setting goals explanied by Sönmez (2001). In the program no goals in any field but cognitive one is encountered .5. It is seen that 2000 subject of science teaching program is initially intended to be based on the constructivist philosophy, yet goals are set according to the behavioral philosophy far from the former, skills are appropriate to the criterion prepared to evaluate the skills.6. The skills of 2004 subject of science and technology teaching program is established to be mostly appropriate to the constructivist philosophy, and also to the criterion.The end of the research suggestions are put forward related to the science teaching skills.
