Making assessment of the decisions taken by board of education between 1980 and 1989.

The purpose of this research is to make quantitative and qualitative assessments of the decisions taken by Board of Education between 1980 and 1989. The decisions taken between 1980 and 1989 by Board of Education where education policies formed and determining decisions taken to be implemented by the Ministry of National Education of Republic of Turkey, were examined by means of documentary research. The data obtained from this study was generally evaluated being integrated in a systematic way. Besides, the decisions by Board of Education analyzed based on this aim, were examined how they determined educational implementation. Around these overall purposes, the answers of the problems below were sought. 1. What are the decisions taken by Board of Education between 1980 and 1989? 2. Which decisions taken in this period predominantly appear in terms of quantitative dimension compared with the traits of the period? 3. What are the purposes of the decisions, to which goal they are prepared and how they are distributed among the other decisions? When the decisions taken between 1980 and 1989 are examined, it appears that the majority of the decisions consist of training program, regulation and textbook. The decisions taken 1980 and 1989 are composed of 32% Training Program, 28% Regulation, 28 % Textbook, 7% Table of Lesson Distribution, 4% Variety Topics, 1% Council of Education. In this ten year period, it seems that the decisions encouraging and reinforcing social cohesion, national solidarity and unity in the common denominator of Atatürkçülük were taken. In addition, 3 meetings of Council of Education were organized and recommendations of educational matters of the period were put forward.
