Abstract (EN)

In this thesis, along with the historical process, the cadaver image in the post-1980 contemporary painting art in the context of the aesthetics of the art is examined and simultaneously, the artistic developments in the world in terms of subject and the reflections of these developments on the post-1980 contemporary painting art are examined. The thesis study consists of four main parts. First of all, definitions of philosophical thinkers who deal with ugly and beautiful phenomena intellectually and conceptually are included. Under the same title, it is also supported with examples from contemporary artists who deal with the cadaver image in their works. Following this, the art movements before 1980 and the works of the artists of this period and the cadaver image, human and animal bodies from the contemporary painting art after 1980 to the present are examined in the context of the aesthetics of the ugly. We can say that along with the political, social, economic and cultural changes that the artists witnessed, the artists internalized and described the cadaver image they took as their subject in their paintings. It can be said that the cadaver in his paintings has transformed from the exalted death as the subject to the aesthetics of the ugly. In the third part of the study, researches are carried out under the title of Cadaver Image in Post-1980 Contemporary Painting Art within the context of the aesthetics of the ugly, and then the works of the sample artists who treat the cadaver image as the phenomenon of ugliness, and the analysis of the work, together with the figures and cadavers images that appear in their paintings are examined. The image of the cadaver has been the subject of the art of painting as sacred and exalting death, in the contemporary art process, animal cadavers that are hunted for earthly pleasure and then on the operating table or traumatized corpses, and then it has been evaluated as a different artistic creation process physically. As seen in the artists considered as an example, it is seen that the image of the cadaver is reflected as ugly, and the ugly is presented with a beautiful or different aesthetic understanding. The fourth part, which is the last part of this study, includes the examination of the cadaver image in the application studies in the context of the aesthetics of the ugly, its interpretation and analysis in terms of color, form, subject and composition.
