Abstract (EN)

Nowadays, for developing countries the terms of industrialization and economic development have the same meaning. There are two different strategies in the literature for industrialization and economic development. After World War II, developing countries preferred export-led growth strategy instead of import substitution for industrialization. Because of disadvantages on foreign trade rates and unsuitable market circumstances in export-led growth strategy. Whole these reasons pushed most of developing countries to conduct liberal trade policies. Turkey preferred and conduct export-led growth strategy after 1980 with 24 January Program. The concept of government policies are to make an investment on key sectors which are the gripping sectors of economy. Manufacturing industry is an important sector for economies which are still not to complement their industrialization. Because this sector guarantee the wealth of a country. The reason of the high speed efficiency it is still the most dynamic sector in an economy. Also manufacturing industry has a geographical importance on the earth. It has an important share in gross domestic product and trade volume. For this reason, this study examines of development in manufacturing industry after 1980 and openness via of an econometrical method between 1996-2011. In addition, this study shows the meaning of key sectors with a literature scan in Turkey.
