The importance and position of installation in graphic design after 1980

The connection between graphic design and installation which is a contemporary expression form was analyzed in this research entitled `The Importance and Position of Installation in Graphic Design After 1980?. The conditions shaping installation with the effect of socio-political and cultural factors were investigated and the pursuit of the gradually misplaced art work in finding a place for itself were studied with art movements and leading artists.The `location? problematic of the installation (the historical background of the location, the interactions between the geographical location and the placement work) experienced in its cooccurrence with object and time phenomenon were observed in the second part of the research with the installation works of the artists and designers.In the last part, the reflections of the postmodern expansions in graphic design and installation were analyzed in terms of intersection points between installation and graphic design after 1980. In this respect; the installation works of graphic designers produced with experimental approach and aimed to raise the consciousness of the society were placed in different exhibition locations. As a result of this research conducted in the content of the thesis, it is seen that the urban life is enriched with the dispersion of fine and susceptible examples of graphically emphasized installations. In this manner, it can be said that the social consciousness is raised with new perception forms.
