EVALUATION OF TREATMENT RESULTS OF CONGENITAL CATARACT CASES SUMMARY 96 patients having congenital cataract who were operated by the method of Aspiration in the Ophthalmology Clinic, Dicle University, Faculty of Medicine between the years 1987-1994. Of 96 patients have been 53.8% were men, 46.2% were women. Alt of the patients have been operated under the general anaesthesia. The most common postoperative complication was posterior capsula opacification which occured in 28 (29.2%) eyes. The complications that had been seen in the patients who have operated with the method of aspiration in the clinic were seen to be compatible with the literature. A satisfactory increase of vision is obtaired in the patients who are enabled to see after the operation. These visual results have been seen to be compatible with the literature. Complications are rarely seen. It has been concluded that surgical techniques and microsurgical instruments used in the operations have had a great importance in the success of the visual results. 44
