Özet (EN)

Cinema, which emerged with the invention of devices such as kinetoscope and cinematography, has attracted attention since the day it was first invented, and it has become one of the most popular arts by bringing together different kinds of stories with the audience. Literary works, social events, and mythological stories have been the mainstay in the creation of films. Dystopias, which are the antithesis of utopias, first emerged as a literary product, and later moved to the silver screen by being articulated with the genre of science fiction. The main subject of the thesis is the reflection of dystopian stories to the Japanese anime cinema, which has managed to become a strong nation state despite the tragedies it has experienced from the past to the present. In this framework, first of all, the concepts of utopia and dystopia as literary products were discussed, then the definitions of science fiction and cyberpunk genres were made and dystopian fictions were examined. The reflection of the history, mythology and identity of Japan, which draws attention with its unique culture, on the works of art was examined, and in this direction, the effects of Japan's past on the formation of the plots of the dystopian animes after 1990 were investigated by analyzing the sample films
