Execution comparisons from local music artists havin lived in Harput, in the 20th century

Harput,which has hosted many civilizations through the history and which is one of the first habitations of the Turks in Anatolia,has a rich and special music culture besides its historical richness.`Musical Assemblies? such as Kürsübaşı, Kayabaşı, Havuzbaşı etc. ,which gather the artists together and where the richest types of execution are performed, are the places where the Harput Artist can express himself. It has added a different richness to the Turkish Music with its tunes,modes,execution manner and rules which are special to it.In he region , sound and word have always been important. For a certain period, as the muslim Turks did not approve off playing instrumentals, who generally interested in this occupation were generally non-muslims. But who was best at executing Harput Music as sound have been generally the muslim Turks who were ones who knew Koran by heart.In this study, the aim is to make a scientific interpretation after having examined the music culture of Harput, its root, its form, its different execution manners and the execution differences between the generations. However, the oldest records having reached to our day belong to Hafız Osman Öge who is one of the eldest end most important local artists of Harput. Because of this situation, Hafız Osman Öge was accepted as the artist of primary period(generation) and his musical style and manner were taken as the basis. Harput Music, which has come to our own time by being carried from generation to generation in a master-apprentice relationship,is examined in four periods(generations).As the result of the examinations, it is seen that the style and manner of Hafız Osman Öge are accepted in Harput local music and that this manner continues in the last generation which was exposed to examination and that this manner is still executed.Keywords: Harput, Elazığ, music, sound, art
