Abstract (EN)
Although the issue of energy has been related with human history deeply from ancient times on, in the period following the Second World War, as the widespread use of oil and natural gas started to play vital roles in the functioning of world economy, energy security has become closely related to the military and economic security for countries. After this period, the concept of energy security has been dealt with by various theories in the discipline of International Relations. Since 2000s, with the upward trend in Turkey's economy, the pressure of the domestic market of the country to reach uninterrupted energy flows with affordable prices has fairly increased and ensuring country's energy security has emerged as a significant area of research. In this thesis, Azerbaijan's role in ensuring Turkey's energy security as an oil and natural gas producer has been discussed. The potential of mutual benefits between the two countries in terms of common cultural values and energy has been evaluated through existing pipelines and planned projects.
