The use of humor in Turkish playwriting after 2000

"The use of Humor in Turkish Playwriting After 2000" consists of two parts. In the first section; humor has been studied conceptually in the context of laughter theories within psychologically and sociologically. The relationship between laughter and theater is mentioned. In the second part; Case plays in Turkish playwrights after 2000 has been researched to determine the use of humor in term of form and content. In the form review, the comedy, and postmodern elements that the writers used to create laughter have been revealed. The content review includes themes that the playwrights used to bring out the funny. Within the specified theoretical framework, this thesis seeks answers to the following questions 'specifically to Turkish playwrights after 2000': Does the use of humor vary according to alternative and subsidized theaters? Is the understanding of classical comedy still valid in this period? What themes are humor associated with? What kind of a relationship has been between the use of humor by new writers and theater elements of both traditional Turkish and post-modern theatre? While determining the scope of this research, texts in accordance with the following two principles were included in the research; (i) the authors have a continuing relationship with an author's theatre, alternative, or subsidized theater company; and (ii) at least two of the author's plays have been staged. In the scope of this research, 27 theater plays have been examined. In the conclusion, an evaluation has been revealed in light of the findings obtained from the analysis. As a result, suggestions for the development of playwriting in the literature are given. The study aims to contribute to both the literature on laughter and comedy and playwriting.
