Ottoman history and education in the Turkish novels since 2000

In our study, the examination of the handling of Ottoman history in Turkish novels of post-2000 was aimed. The purpose of this study is to examine how the Ottoman history is handled in Turkish fictions after 2000. Within this purpose, the study is completed in three chapters. First chapter presents, purpose and importance, the problem and sub-problems, suppositions, restrictions and definition of the study. In the second chapter, the concept of historical fiction is handled. In this chapter, time, place, point of view, individuals and other characters in historical fictions are clarified, after explaining the definition of historical fiction, and how the concept emerged. Later on, the first examples of historical fictions in Turkish literature and researches, publications about the subject are presented. In the third chapter, method of the study is explained primarily. Subsequently, findings and comments are included. The way how the era of Fatih Sultan Mehmet, 17th century, Selim the Third, Abdulhamid and Mehmet the Fifth, are handled in Turkish fictions after 2000 is narrated according to chronological historical events. In this study, Kızıl Atın Süvaarisi by Hasan Erdem, Sultanın Rüyası by Mine Sultan Ünver, Hatice Sultan by Hıfzı Topuz, Müzehhip Hafiye by Veysel Türk, Kumandan by Okay Tiryakioğlu, Nar Ağacı by Nazan Bekiroğlu, Sarkamış – Beyaz Hüzün by İsmail Bilgin and Uzun Bir Yolculuğun Bittiği Yer by Hüsnü Arkan are analyzed. Subsequently, this study is finalized by analyzing the narration of education within these fictions.
