Abstract (EN)

The representation of Balkan immigrants in Turkish Cinema has been examined in the following period starting from the 2000s. In Turkish Cinema immigrant characters are exposed to discrimination in the context of their social identities. In the study, a movie review was made with the content analysis method. In the films, it is seen that the cultural life and migration processes of the Balkan immigrants are shaped by the changing borders, regimes and political structures as a result of the wars in the geography they live in. In this study, where we aim to see the representation of Balkan immigrants in Turkish Cinema, Turkish films named Dedemin İnsanları, Limonata, Cep Herkülü: Naim Süleymanoğlu, Kaçış 1950, Uzun Hikâye, shot after 2000, have been tried to be analyzed in terms of sociological, cultural, psychological and cinematographic aspects. In the process of analyzing the films, it has been observed that the phenomenon of migration leaves important traces in the lives of individuals. The place where the Balkan immigrants were born, their relations there, their cultural life, their adaptation to the migrated place, the identities they claimed, the othering problems they experienced were witnessed as a result of the researches and through the movies watched.
