Abstract (EN)
One of the reasons why the world has become a global village is the developments and interaction from the past to the present. The concept of globalization, about which researches have become more frequent in recent years and which has taken the world under its influence, explains the reason why the world, which has become a global village, has become this way. One of the fields in which the name of globalization is effective is education. Education is one of the basic institutions of social life and cannot stay away from the developments experienced thanks to globalization. Qualified people who adapt to the economic and social developments and scientific and technological advances in the countries of the world and in Turkey have been trained only through education. Social Studies course is a course that contributes to the creation of global education, especially in the basic education period. The reason for this is that developments in the global context and important social events in the world are among the main purposes of social studies education. However, the Social Studies course is one of the courses that we encounter at the primary school level in terms of raising citizens equipped with global values with a worldview. Among many fields, Social Studies is the most affected by the developments in the global context. The fact that global developments and social developments in the world are among the main objectives of Social Studies education has brought this course to be at the forefront of global education. Therefore, globalization is a concept that has an important place in the Social Studies course. With this study, it has been tried to determine the dimensions of the concept of globalization in the Social Studies textbooks prepared according to the 2005 and 2018 curriculum. When the studies on the subject were examined, it was seen that the textbooks handled by the researchers were prepared according to the 2005 or 2018 Social Studies curriculum, and there was no study comparing the textbooks prepared according to the two curriculums. It is thought that this study will contribute to the field and fill the gap in the literature, as it is the first study to compare the situation of globalization in the 5th, 6th and 7th grade books prepared according to the 2005 and 2018 Social Studies curriculum. In this study, the single scanning model, which is included in the general scanning model, is a cross-sectional scanning. Within the scope of the research, Social Studies textbooks prepared according to the 2005 and 2018 program were examined within the scope of science and technology, education, economy, political, socio-cultural and environmental dimensions of globalization and descriptive analysis was used in the analysis. As a result of the research, when the 5th, 6th and 7th grade textbooks prepared according to the 2005 Social Studies curriculum were examined, a total of 281 examples of globalization and 63 examples were determined visually. It has been seen that the 7th grade textbook is the book with the highest number of globalization dimensions, and the 5th grade textbook is the least mentioned. When the 5th, 6th and 7th grade textbooks prepared according to the 2018 Social Studies curriculum were examined, 330 examples of globalization and 69 examples were determined visually. The book with the highest number of globalization dimensions was the 7th and 6th grade textbooks, respectively, and the 5th grade textbooks were the least included. When the examined textbooks are compared, it is understood that the 5th, 6th and 7th grade textbooks prepared according to the 2018 curriculum refer to globalization more in terms of content and visual than the textbooks prepared according to the 2005 curriculum. It has been determined that in the textbooks prepared according to the 2018 curriculum, the sociocultural dimension of globalization is mentioned the most and the environmental dimension at least.
