Abstract (EN)
Textbooks are the first source that students apply for the history course. The biggest task of history textbooks is to help secondary school students learn about history. However, secondary education history textbooks concentrate on one subject. This subject is about Ottoman history and culture. For this reason, the students' knowledge of Anatolian Principalities consists only of their relations or struggles with the Ottomans. Changing secondary education programs do not solve this problem. As a matter of fact, while the Anatolian Principalities were introduced under separate headings in the history textbooks of pre-2006, no principalities is introduced anymore. The information given in these textbooks about the Anatolian Principalities, known from their relations with the Ottomans, is also quite shallow. In this study, the secondary education textbooks between the years 2006-2020 will be evaluated in terms of Anatolian Principalities. In this context, general political information about the Anatolian Principalities will be given, in the light of this information, the information in the textbooks will be evaluated; in addition, depending on the changes in secondary education programs, the information in the textbooks with different dates will be compared.
