The effect of the 2008 global finance crisis on monetary policies of the CBRT

It is observed that in the last 20-25 years of the world economy, there has been a serious financial crisis and financial crises have been experienced frequently due to this rapid financialization. These crises are reacted through money politics. In this study, a global financial crisis was assessed in terms of monetary po-licy. When this evaluation is made, firstly the concepts of crisis and financial crisis are emphasized; historical process of crisis concept, approaches about financial crisis, types of financial crisis and models. Later on, the issue of monetary policy was addressed and details of what monetary policy means, the aims of monetary policy and what instruments are, the strategies of monetary policy and theoretical debates. Then, the 2008 global financial crisis was discussed in detail; how the crisis started, chronology, reasons, spreading to the countries, measures taken during the crisis and the effects of the crisis on the world economy. In the last part of the study, the evaluation of the 2008 crisis was made in terms of monetary policy and the study was concluded.
