The effects of 2008 golbal crisis on financial structure of small and medium enterprises in Trabzon

Economic crises influence all economic- macro and micro units. These impacts vary from country to country and from firm to firm. 2008 global crisis has had negative impact in the world and in Turkey. The impact of that crisis worldwide was at macro level. In Turkey, the effects of the crisis has influenced the micro size called reel sector. Small and Medium Enterprises (SME) are an important part of Turkey?s reel sector but SME?s have problems such as inadequate equity, limited facilities of financing.This study aims to set forth effects of 2008 global crisis on financial structure of SME in Trabzon. 101 SME compose the sample of the research. 2008 global crisis and its impact on SME?s financing structure and measures were revealed in the study. In this study, statistical analysis was employed in order to determine the effects of 2008 global crisis on financing structures of SME and the measures taken to reduce those effectsin terms of characteristics of SME. As a result of the analysis, significant impact of 2008 global crisis was observed on delays of receivables and debt situations of SMEs.Key Words: 2008 Global Crisis, SME, Financing Structure.
