The professional experiences of primary school teachers teaching the first grade in the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 academic years

The aim of this research is to examine the professional experiences of classroom teachers who taught first grade primary school in the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 academic years. In this context, what the teachers think about the 4+4+4 education system, students' readiness for school and adaptation to school, their physical development and their opinions about the implemented program are discussed. This study is a qualitative research and the research method is oral history. The study group of the research consists of classroom teachers who taught first grade primary school in the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 academic years in Yozgat province. A semi-structured interview form was used as the data collection tool in the research. The data of the research were obtained from the interviews conducted with classroom teachers who taught first grade primary school in the 2012-2013 and 2013-2014 academic years. The obtained data were analyzed by descriptive analysis method. In the analyses, it was observed that teachers were not consulted during the process of regulating the law numbered 6287, known as 4+4+4, and they were not informed about the law. In addition, negative aspects such as students experiencing anxiety about failure in the next levels of education, students not being suitable to transfer to secondary school in the 5th grade, having adaptation problems when they transfer to secondary school, the system being unsuccessful and difficult to implement were observed.
