Investigation of the teaching processes of the primary school teacher candidates with high and low 21st century teaching skills

The purpose of this study is to examine the learning and teaching processes of primary school teacher candidates with high and low teaching skills in the 21st century. The study group of the research, in which the qualitative research method was used, consists of eight primary school teacher candidates studying in the last year of Gaziantep University Education Faculty. The 21st Century Teacher Skills Scale was applied to determine the teacher candidates in the study group and the evaluations of the participants of the teaching practice courses of the determined group were consulted. The data sources of the research are consist of the lesson plans and lesson records created by each candidate teacher in the study group. The content obtained in the research was subjected to analysis. As a result of the research, it was determined that the primary school teacher candidates with high 21st century teaching skills prepared their teaching process plans in more detail and were better equipped in terms of activities, materials, techniques and strategies. It has been observed that they exhibit more effective behaviors in terms of classroom management and communication. It was concluded that they preferred to use by diversifying their teaching activities and assessment and evaluation activities. It has been determined that primary school teacher candidates with low 21st century teaching skills do not pay attention to accents while speaking and cannot use their verbal language effectively.
