"Paşa Sancağı" İn "Tapu Tahrir Defter" Of No 217 KEYWORD: Üsküb, Kalkandelen, Kırçova, Manastır, Piri epe, Köprülü, In this study, tapu tahrir defter of no 217 is examined and tried to reveal the condiitions of the subdistricts of Üsküp, Kalkandelen (Tetova), Manastır (Bitola), Pirlepe and Köprülü (Veles) within the present Macedonia in the middle of the XVIth century. The defter which source of and outlet of our research is in the Prime-Ministry Ottoman Archives and its call number is 981 and its identificaton number 217 which entitled "the synopisis defter of timars belongs to mustahfizs in Üsküp, Kalkandelen, Kırçova, Manastır, Pirlepe, Köprülü which bound to Paşa sancağı" The date of defter is registrated as Hegira 949 / 1549 A.D. Indeed, it is registrated that Paşa sancağı had 34 provinces in 1526. Our defter is composed only of six of them. The exintence of the provinces, which we study on, at present added much more importance of our research. Our research, which is an important source for the structure of the Pre-Ottoman and also Ottoman period, has the quality of example to the later works. In addition to this, our study is important in terms of putting forth the application of timar system for consideration in the region; the assessment of timar system and how look the Ottoman administration to the region. Moreover, the registration of place names in the table provides the source to toponomic evaluations. VIII
