The transcription and the assessment of Manisa sSharia Court records numbered 218 (H. 1185-1187/M. 1771-1773)

Manisa, which has been home to various civilizations from ancient times to the present day, came under Turkish sovereignty with the Saruhanogullari Principality and then took place as an accident of Saruhan Sanjak in the classical provincial organization of the Ottoman Empire. Manisa şhariyya registry number 218, which is the subject of this study, is dated H.1185-1187 (1771-1773 AD) and contains information pertaining to this period of Manisa kaza. These can be listed as tax records and probate records, the division of administrative units such as kaza, district, neighborhood and village, documents related to agriculture and animal husbandry, trade, purchase and sale, foundations, and banditry incidents. In this study, the information in the shar'iyye registry numbered 218 has been scientifically classified and discussed in order. In this context, the legal, political, social, economic, cultural and military aspects of the Manisa Kaza between 1185-1187 AH have been tried to be revealed within the framework of the data in the existing shar'iyye registry. First of all, a brief history of the city of Manisa is given, followed by information about the shar'iyya registers, and then the evaluation and transcription of the shari'iyya registry number 218 is made. This study tries to shed some light on the 18th century of the Ottoman Empire in the context of Manisa city.
