Based on the examination of the Shariyya record book of Amasya numbered 26

hariyya record documents are very important first hand sources for the history of Otoman Empire. By courtesy of such documents we are able to obtain more detailed informations about our own political, economic, social and administrative history on the one hand and our city historiography on the other.We believe that by this study, based on the examination of the Shariyya record book of Amasya numbered 26, we have shed a light on the history of the city of Amasya which is cited in the course of history by distinguished names such as "Medinetü'l-Hükema", "Bagdadü'r-Rum", "Rumiyye-i Su?ra", "Ermeniyye-i Kübra", "Hisnü'l-Mir'at", Kubbetü'l-Ulema, Türbetü'l-Evliya, Darü'n-Nasr, Darü'l-izz and Kasrü's Selatin.Our thesis, name of which is The Analysis of Amasya Shariyya Record Numbered 26, consists of three chapters. In the 1st Chapter we tried to give some information about geographical location and history of the city of Amasya. We concentrated in the 2nd Chapter of this study on the administrative partition and function of Amasya, while the 3rd Chapter is devoted to economic, social structure and constitutions of that city.In conclusion, our thesis makes it more obvious that Amasya is an important cultural/scientific center and has a cardinal role in the understanding of Otoman Empire administration.
