Eğin district Population Book No. 2614: Transcription and evaluation of Muslim and non-Muslim population

Population censuses are important records showing the social, demographic and partly economic situation of the period. As a result of the censuses, ideas emerge about how people live and the situation of the region. This notebook, which is specifically addressed to the Eğin district, includes information about the livelihoods of the region and the relationships between people and each other due to the fact that they do business together. In the notebook used in our study, information about the people living in the region, their own names, family names, nicknames, and the tradesmen they were affiliated with due to the work they performed were recorded in detail. Managers belonging to each tradesman group were recorded in the book, and if any, statements showing the disability and social status of the tradesman group were included, as well as information about where they came from. It has been determined that in this book, which consists of Muslim and non-Muslim population, the surety situations between individuals registered in tradesmen groups are also recorded. It has been observed that the population in the region does business together and vouches for each other when necessary. In the notebook, where mastery, journeyman and apprenticeship statuses are stated for most people, it is understood that the guarantor jobs are done by the leading people of the region.
