SUMMARYSANJAQ OF GAZA IN 1548 ACCORDING TO THE TAHRIR DEFTERNUMBARED 265Sinan YALÇINKAYAFırat UniversityThe Institute of Social SciencesDepartment of HistoryXXXIX+ 173 PagesIn our study, we examined the stuations of administration, physical,demographic and economic of the sanjaq of Gaza in 1548 according to the Tahrir Defternumbared 265.In that time, the sanjaq of Gaza contained 2 districts, 190 villages and 350hamlets. Also, the city of Gaza was divided into 6 quarters.The population of sanjaq of Gaza was not crowded in 1548. Around thepopulation of the city was 20.000. Also, the population of the districts were 55.000.However, the population of the sanjaq was about 75.000. the most of the population wasconsist of müslims. However, christians and jewises were living in the sanjaq.Key Words: Gaza, tahrir defter, sanjaq.
