Dosimetric comparision of lung SBRT plans calculated in 3 different algoritms

Abstract (EN)

The main purpose in radiotherapy is to give the maximum dose to the determined tumor volume while giving the minimum dose to the critical organs around the tumor. With the developing technology, progress has been shown in the irradiation techniques of tumors formed in small volumes. Chief among these are Stereotactic Body Radiotherapy (SBRT). The main principle of SBRT is based on the delivery of high doses to the targeted volume in a single or several fractions. In this study, it is aimed to compare the differences of lung SBRT treatment plans obtained with different algorithms for 20 cases on critical organs and target volume. In the study, images were obtained from patients by performing free breathing, static and 4DCT (Four Dimensional Computed Tomography) scanning. All these images were transferred to the Eclipse and Monaca Treatment Planning Systems (TPS). A total of 60 plans were created in the Anisotropic Analytical Algorithm (AAA), Acuros XB (AXB) and Monte Carlo (MC) treatment algorithms. Two half-arc Volumetric Modulated Arc Treatment (VMAT) technique, consisting of the same angles, was used in all plans. The plans created were compared with each other. As a result of these comparisons, the differences between the treatment plans obtained from 3 different algorithms were investigated. No statistical difference was found in the experimental results.
