Abstract (EN)

In this study, sixteen new compounds which are carrying urea (compounds 1-8) and thiourea (compounds 9-16) groups at position 6 of the 3-methyl-2-oxo-3H-benzothiazole ring were synthesized. Structures of new compounds were determined by IR, 1H-NMR, Mass and elemental analysis. Synthesized compounds were evaluated for in vitro antibacterial, antifungal and antimycobacterial effects by using microdilution and microplate methods. The urea and thiourea derivatives which were obtained by the reaction of 6-amino-3-methyl-2-oxo-3H-benzothiazole with the appropriate isocyanates and isothiocyanates were generally found more active against E. coli ATCC 35218, E. faecalis and C. albicans.Among the synthesized compounds; 3, 4, 5, 8, 13 and 16 showed the best antibacterial activity against E. Coli with a MIC value of 32 µg/ml. In addition, compound 14 was the most active against E. coli ATCC 35218 with a MIC value of 16 µg/ml.Among the synthesized compounds; 2, 14 and 15 against M.tuberculosis MIC value was determined 64 µg/ml.
