Abstract (EN)
World Tour 2023 Final Tournament is to determine game systems using video analysis methods and to investigate the possible relationship between the obtained statistical data and the teams' success levels. The study analyzed a total of 12 basketball teams in the final round and 56 male players aged between 20 and 41. During the video analysis, 1691 offensive phases were recorded, including ball handling, passing, handoff passes, screens, off-ball screens, on-ball screens, and total screens. Additionally, the study examined the effects of different screening strategies on team offense. Players were divided into two groups: those who used many screens and those who used fewer screens. The Mann-Whitney U test is applied for comparisons between these groups. Kruskal-Wallis H analysis is used to compare the 12 teams based on the specified parameters. Pairwise comparisons between teams are conducted using the Dunn-Bonferroni post hoc test. Results are interpreted at a significance level of 0.05. The findings revealed that players who used fewer screens were generally key players who directed the game and carried the scoring load, while players who used many screens played a supportive role, contributing to the flow of the game and assisting other players. From an individual performance perspective, team organizations that incorporated screens increased overall offensive efficiency by involving all players. On the other hand, offenses with fewer screens increased the risk of turnovers and created greater dependence on individual skills. While individual skills can be effective in creating rhythm, this approach may negatively impact offensive efficiency. Therefore, it is suggested that game strategies involving more screens could be more effective in enhancing team success and may serve as a significant reference for future research.
