Abstract (EN)

This study aims at examining fourth and fifth grade students? perceptions (images) of `scientist? and revealing how it differs. In this respect, a pair of cities representing low, average and high socioeconomic levels (totally 6 cities); three schools chosen considering the averages of them in 2011 SBS and randomly four classes from each of these schools; in aggregate 72 classes and 1926 students were examined. It is assumed that this sampling represents all of fourth and fifth grades in Black Sea Region. In the study, ?Scientist Image Scale?, developed by Küçük and Bağ (2013) was used as its permission was acquired during its publishing process. Cronbach Alpha coefficient was found as 0, 69 after the reliability analysis which was implemented before data collection. For this reason, five points likert structure of data collection tool consisting of 20 questions and 6 factors was preserved. Analysis of data was performed with PASW 18 package. t-Test, ANOVA, Kruskal-Wallis abd Man Whitney U tests were conducted relevantly to sub-problems of the study. In this context, how the images fourth and fifth grade students have vary by socio-economic levels, class (grade) levels, gender, education level of parents is revealed. In the study as in previous ones, along with the results of studies associated with gender and appearance of scientists, personality, private life and work conditions showed interesting results.
