Investigation of permission levels of risky play and children's self-regulation skills among mothers with 4–6 year-old children

The aim of this study is to examine the levels of allowing risky play and the self-regulation skills of the mothers who have children between the ages of 4-6. The sample of the study consists of 318 children aged 4-6 in kindergartens in Karabuk. The research data was collected from the "Personal Information Form", "The Scale of Allowing Risky Plays" and the "Scale of Self-regulation Skills for 4-6 Years Old Children". T-test, one-way analysis of variance (ANOVA) tests, Pearson Correlation coefficient and linear regression analysis were used in the analysis of the research data. As a result of the research, mothers' levels of allowing risky games, mother's age, mother and father's education level, number of children, mother's working status, frequency of playing games with their children, levels of risky games played as a child, and the child's birth order, age and duration of attending preschool education institution. It was found that there was a significant difference between children's selfregulation skills and mother's education level, the frequency of playing games with the mother's child, and the place where the child often played games. As a result of the research, no significant difference was found between the levels of mothers' allowing risky play and father's age, gender of the child and where the often plays. There was no significant difference between children's self-regulation skills and mother's age, father's age, father's education level, number of children, mother's employment status, mother's risky play as a child, child's gender, birth order, age and duration of preschool education. It was determined that there was a positive relationship between mothers' levels of allowing risky play and children's self-regulation skills, and mothers' allowing risky play predicted self regulation skills.
