Opinions of 4-6 year old Quran course teachers on the use of drama method in values ​​education (İzmir province example)

The purpose of this research is to examine the use of drama method in values education for children who are educated in Quran courses aged 4-6, under the views of course teachers. The sample group of the research occurred of 4-6 year old Quran course instructors working in İzmir city center and its districts. In the research, interviews were conducted with 20 teachers working in Quran courses affiliated to mufti offices. In the study, a semi-structured interview form was used. It is aimed to determine the proficiency of the teachers in the field of drama in the education of values by making use of the opinions of the 4-6 year old Quran course teachers. It was examined by the content analysis method compiled from the interviews. It was concluded that the participants did not find themselves sufficient about drama, but they were willing to participate in the courses related to drama education, that the majority of them used the drama method in values education and that ıt should be used most actively. It is among the other results that the drama method is mostly used in teaching values such as patience, cooperation and compassion, and that children learn to express themselves, empathy, cooperation and mutual understanding with this method.
