Abstract (EN)

Within the Turkish Labor Law legislation, the concept of working time is one of the essential elements of the employment contract. However, working time is also one of the most problematic issues between employees and employers. Many different researches and studies have been conducted on this subject until today. In out study, we will try to explain the types of work, working hours, overtime, working for extra hours and the legal consequences connected to these works, which have a place in Turkish Labor Law legislation, by taking into account the legal regulations and the Supreme Court precedents. In order to understand the concepts of overtime within teh Turkish Labor Law legistilation, it is first necessary to understand the normal working hours, the limits of which are determined. Later,if these working hours determined by law and by the parties are exceeded, the concepts of overtime and working for extra hours, which are the subject of this thesis, will come to the fore. At this point, the worker may be given the legally recognized right to use free time in return for overtime and overtime work, or he may be paid an increased wage in return for this work.
