Examination of tekst in 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade Turkish texthbooks according to ten root value

In this research, it is aimed to determine the ten root values in the texts in the 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade Turkish textbooks. In the research, 5th, 6th, 7th and 8th grade Turkish textbooks, which were approved by the Ministry of National Education Board of Education and Discipline and continued to be taught in schools for five years since 2018, were chosen as study material. It has been tried to determine how and how the ten root values determined by the Ministry of National Education are included in a total of 196 texts in the textbooks. In the research, the data were obtained by the document analysis method, one of the qualitative research methods. According to the results obtained in the study, the ten root values are 56 in 45 texts in the 5th grade Turkish textbook, 55 in 45 texts in the 6th grade Turkish textbook, 65 in 48 texts in the 7th grade Turkish textbook and 58 texts in the 8th grade Turkish textbook. It has appeared 69 times. According to the results obtained according to the text types; There are mostly stories (48) and poetry (49) types of texts in Turkish textbooks. In these texts, the values of love (57) and patriotism (43) were mostly found. Different text types are also included in the textbooks and ten root values are also found in these text types. Informative text types were the text types in which at least (8) of ten root values were included in all books. In general, while the values of love (57), patriotism (43) and respect (31) are frequently included in Turkish textbooks, it has been concluded that the values of honesty (13) and justice (7) are rarely included.
