Abstract (EN)

This research aims assessment of word power of age group of six students in the pre-scohool time in terms of variable point of view. To determine word power of Pre-school students in the province of Elazig, it is utilized from descriptive methods. This research interview datas were collected by unstructured interview technique from species of negotiations. This Research was conducted for total 30 pre-school students at three schools in the province of Elazig.Analysis of the data obtained through interviews, descriptive analysis technique is used. Then, the data obtained is used for digitizing. At first, sound records was listened by decoding according to schools. A computer software package was developed by researcher to achieve the Students word power and counted the data to provide. Through this program, the datas easily and reliably were analyzed and tried to reach the students mental Dictionary .In this study , during the research , it is confirmed that 30 pre-school students participated in the research used total 49677 letters. In the research process, students used the sounds of A, E, R, İ, N and M more than the other letters.And in the same process, students used the sounds of J, F, Ö, C, P less than the other letters.When we look at pre-school age group of six students to the research results, we can see that they have achieved the word wealth. Students were most repeated the 'me' word. Also, most frequent use of the words 'there, one, too, have, love, mother, be, father, we' are the words.According to the first letter of the word used by the students, they have been also studied the word power, and they have most used the words which starting with 'A and E 'letters. The words started with the sound of 'j and I' are the least ones used by students in their mental dictionariesAlso, it was determined that the status of family education was an important factor for their word power. The students who have mother and father with a high educational level ,was found to be more mental dictionaries.According mental dictionaries derived from this research, sound groups in the first literacy programs should be reviewed again and primary education teaching materials and textbook should be revised again with taking into students' mental dictionaries.Key Words: Word Power, first literacy program, sound groups
