The application of The Test of Researching The Reading and Writing Skills on the children at the age of 61-72 months old (in the sampling of Ankara)

The currrent research was carried out to the study of validity and reliability in ?the Test of Research of Reading and Writing Skills for the Children at the age of 61-72 months old attending to a kindergarten in the sampling of Ankara. The population of the scanning research consisted of children at the age of 61 ? 72 months old attending to a kindergarten in the school term of 2009 ? 2010 in the central towns of Çankaya, Etimesgut, Keçiören and Yenimahalle of the city of Ankara. As for the sampling of the research, it was comprised of 467 children chosen in the method of stratification. ?the Test of Research of Reading and Writing Skills for the Children at the age of 62-72 months old?, ?General Information Form?, was used to gather the data of the research and ?Kaufman Research Test of Early Academic and Language Skills? was used to evaluate some similar scale validity.The tasks of reliability and validity were conducted using the data obtained through the application of the Research Test of Reading and Writing Skills for Children at the Age of 61-72 Months Old?. In this way, some items decided to be insufficient in discriminating the individuals were taken out. It was found that most of the items where one dimensional factor structure belonging to sub-tests and sub-dimensions verified for the confirmatory factor analysis results mostly represented the one dimensional factor structure. In the groups on which application was carried out, Kuder Richardson (KR-20) values of Reading Skills was found .987, it was .946 for Alphabet Knowledge, .979 for Phonological Awareness, .989 for Vocabulary and Pronunciation Knowledge and .829 for Writing Skills for the reliability of the scores of Research Test of Reading and Writing Skills. The fact that KR-20 values were found high showed that the inner coherence was high. Concerning these results, it was accepted that the Research Test of Reading and Writing Skills are valid and reliable for Turkish Children at the age of 61 ? 72 months old.
