Özet (EN)

Postnatal growth of the cranial skeleton proceeds at different rates and periods. During this growth process, so many differences at the craniofacial measurements, in the fetal, childhood and adulthood periods, have occured. In the formation of these differences, genetics factors, race, sex, shape of the cranium and the proportion of growth are quite effective. Some anthropometric measurements of the cranium and face are effected in the presence of central nervous system malformations and syndromes. So far; it was determined that, the results of the craniofacial morphometric studies, carried out on Turner, Williams, Klinifelter, Fragile X and Down syndrome cases, show significant differences according to healthy subjects. This study was intended to determined the cranial and facial measurements in 265 subjects ( 149 male, 116 female) age from 7 to 11 in Tokat. 29 craniofacial anthropometric measurements( 6 cranial, 10 facial, 4 orbital, 2 nasal, 3 orolabial ve 4 auricular) and 22 anthropometric landmarks were used. Differences were determined between the cranial and facial measurements of retarded and normal subjects. As well as causes of syndromes may account for these differences, motor and mental alterations may also. Furthermore, the Z score values were calculated for each individual. The averages of the Z score values were determined to be in the optimal range (+1SD,-1SD).Key Words: Craniofacial measurement, anthropometry, Z score.
