Abstract (EN)
In living tissues, free oxygen radicals and antioxidants are produced in a controlled manner. The produced radicals are destroyed by the antioxidant defense system. If the antioxidants are inadequate during this process, the oxidant/antioxidant balance is disrupted and tissue damage, which is expressed in the literature as oxidative stress, occurs. In this study, we aimed to investigate the effects of curcumin and resveratrol, which are known to have antioxidant and anticarcinogenic properties, against toxicity based on the literature research results. In this study, tissue damage was induced by giving 7,12-Dimethylbenz[a]anthracene to the rats and the changes in the tissues were investigated biochemically. In our study, 6 groups were formed with 7 rats in each group and a total of 42 Wistar albino female rats were studied. The rats in the negative control group did not have tissue damage but were fed only with a basal diet. Curcumin (40 mg/kg) was given to rats in the curcumin group by intraperitoneal injection. Resveratrol (40 mg/kg) was given intraperitoneally to rats in the resveratrol group. Rats in the DMBA group were injected with 7,12 mL of DMBA (20 mg/kg) by intraperitoneal injection and the rats were fed with a basal diet. Rats in the DMBA+Curcumin group were injected with 7,12-DMBA (20 mg/kg, intraperitoneal) 0.5 mL and curcumin (40 mg/kg, intraperitoneal). Rats in the DMBA+Resveratrol group were injected with 7,12-DMBA (20 mg/kg, intraperitoneal) 0.5 mL and resveratrol (40 mg/kg, intraperitoneal). The study lasted 4 weeks. At the end of the study, liver and kidney tissues of rats were taken and analyzed biochemically. As a result; curcumin and resveratol reduced increased MDA when given with DMBA; GSH increased the amount of GST, GR, SOD and CAT. In general, it increased the amount of vitamins in two substances; oleic acid, linoleic acid and stearic acid. According to this; we can say that curcumin and resveratrol generally reduce oxidative stress levels and activate antioxidant systems.
