Analyzing psycometric properti̇es of 7th grade comman examinations (A sample of Sakarya provi̇nce)

The aim of this study is analyzing psychometric properties of comman exam that were applied on 7th grade students in Sakarya in 2018-2019 educational year. Comman exams are applied all across the province with the aim of the reaching the testing and evaluating objectives in ministry of Education's 2023 Vision Document. MEB aims at completing the insufficient learning, evaluating learning process on the basis of school, district and province; presenting current situation for decision makers and collecting data for developing new strategies. Psychometric properties at these exams should be at sufficient level because results from these exams will guide strategies for coming years. In this study, psycometric properties of Turkish, Maths, Science and English subtests applied in all across Sakarya province were analized. Psycometric properties from answer of student (17524 student for Turkish subtest, 17444 student for Maths subtest, 17652 student for Science subtest and 16833 student for English subtst) who took these exams were calculated based on CTT. In item statistics, item difficulty index, item discrimination index, item reliability index, item standard deviation and item varians were calculated. In test statistics, test reliability index, test arithmetics and average difficulty were calculated. In addition, content validity of subtests was analyzed, it was consulted to expert opinion for the content validity. As a result; in all subtest item difficulty levels are easy and very easy but item discrimination levels are good. It was observed that are one item in Turkish subtest and two items in Science subtest should be revised. Reliability index KR-20 which is calculated in subtests was calculated 0.843 for Turkish subtest, 0.755 for Math test, 0.87 for Science subtest and 0.87 for English subtest. It was concluded that reliability levels at all subtests are enough. In respect at content validity, there is no items for four learning outcomes in Turkish test and the level of items outcome distribution is not enough in English subtest. In maths and Science subtests content validity level is enough. As a result in this study, comman exams applied in Sakarya in 2018-2019 educational year are suitable in terms at reliability but content validity in Turkish and English subtest aren't enough. It vas concluded that comman exams shoul be prepared enjuring content validity and item and test statistics should be suitable levels.Keywords: Comman exam, reliability, validity, item statistics, test statistics
