Abstract (EN)
Şerʼiyye registers are the only archive sources that provide us with important information about the physical and administrative structure of a city and the region, in terms of local history. In this study, we evaluated the document types and subject contents of Malatya Şerʼiyye Registers, which was saved in the National Library with the registration number 7749 and which was composed of court records between 1891-1894 and H. 1309-1311, by adhering to its main elements. In our study first of all, we translated 307 documents, each numbered sequentially, into the Latin alphabet, adhering to the principles of transcription. Although these documents are summarized and classified according to the related topics in their own context; Considering the subject contents and the obtained data, we examined the notebook as a whole. Thus, it is facilitated to obtain numerical data and to transform these data into information by processing them from to minimize doubts about their reliability. Our thesis consists of five main sections, with the exception of the introduction. In the first three chapters, the information obtained from the registry has been evaluated under the main headings by making use of copyright and research works. The fourth section consists of the summaries of the documents and the fifth section consists of the text of the transcription. An index has also been created to make it easier for researchers and general readers to find what they are looking for. As a result of these studies, we have briefly stated, an effort has been made to write a general "city history", especially the social and economic situation of the city of Malatya, based on the years between M. 1891-1894 (H. 1309-1311). Keywords: Malatya, Şer'iyye Registry, Court, Kadı.
