ABSTRACTINTERACTION OF PERFORMANCE W TH ROPE JUMP NG AND INTERVALRUNN NG TRAINING IN BOYS 9-11 YEARS OLDAĞAR, EnginMS, Education of TrainingAdviser: Asist. Prof. Bekir YÜKTAŞIRNovember 2006,100 PagesThe aim of this study was to compare effects of performance to apply 30second rope jumping and interval running training in boys 9-11 years old.The study was done on the volunteered 29 subjects who were between 9-11age range and they were students at Bolu Yıldırım Beyazıt Primary School. Themeans of the physical parameters of all subjects were measured as below: age 9,66 ±0, 86, height 134,41 ± 6,15 cm, body weight 29,13 ± 4,46 kg.Experiemental groups of this study were rope jumping groups (n=10) andinterval running training (n=10). There were 10 boys in rope jumping group and 10boys in interval training group. Another group of 9 boys served as a control group.Experimental groups of this study applied in a 6-week rope jumping andinterval running training program (3 day x 1 week, intensity: 90-95%HR Max).Before and after the 6-week training period, all the children were tested. In allsubjects, Illinois Agility Run Test was used to determinate agility performance;Shuttle Run Test was used to determinate Max VO2 performance; Sergeant Jump Testwas used to determinate anaerobic power and skinfold thickness measurements weretaken to assess body fat percent using Skinfold Caliper.Non - parametric tests were used in statistical analysises. The results of thestudy showed that rope jumping training has decraised agility, and body fatpercentage. It has also raised Max VO2 and anaerobic power capacity. ntervalrunning training group has no significant difference in Max VO2 (p>.05) but hassignificant difference in agility, percent of body fat and anaerobic capacityperformance (p<.05).Between experiments and control groups? pre and post-test results, it was alsoobtained that there was a significant difference among the groups at agility (p<.05) butno significant differences among the groups at Max VO2, anaerobic capacity and bodyfat percentage (p>.05).Keywords: interval training, rope jumping, anaerobic capacity, Max VO2,agility, body fat percentage.
