The effect of narcissistic personality trait on cyberbullying and cybervictimization in 9 to 14-year old children

This research was designed as descriptive and relationship-seeking type in order to determine the effect of narcissistic personality trait on cyber bullying and cyber victimization in children aged 9-14. It was carried out between November 2020 and July 2021. The population of the research, according to the data obtained from Düzce Provincial Directorate of National Education, consists of 18,687 students in the 9-14 age group with 100 or more registered students in the center of Düzce. The sample of the study was determined as 500 people by using the Simple Random Sample formula, the number of the population was determıned, by calculating potentıal losses. The research has been carried out on 524 students who agreed to participate in the study. As a data collection tool in the research, "Personal Information Form" created by the researcher, Thomaes et al. (2008), the Turkish validity and reliability study was performed by Akın et al. (2015) "Childhood Narcissism Scale" and "Revised Cyberbullying Inventory – II" adapted in Turkish by Baker (2007) and revised by Topçu (2014). In this study, although there has been a weakly significant positive relationship between the level of narcissistic personality and cyberbullying (p=0.001, p<0.05), no significant relationship has been found between the level of narcissistic personality and cyber-victimization (p=0.074, p>0.05). In the result of research: It is recommended that children with narcissistic personality should be informed about cyberbullying.
