At the present day, technological and scientific developments, increasing goods and service variety, call for the protection of the consumer, who is generally in a feeble situation before the producer because of his/her insufficient knowlege about the said developments and increasing variety. The most important aspect of consumer protection, is the protection of consumer health. While the compensation of a good or service acquired by the consumer is possible from a financial point of view, usually it is not possible to compensate a health problem encountered. Therefore, it is also important to undertake the protection of consumer health, for our country which is in the EU adaptation process. In this study, the residents of the Bursa Province, Gemlik District were subjected to a survey, with the purpose to evaluate their consciousness level, concerning their rights of consumer health protection as consumers. The results of the survey indicate that nearly all of the participants (90%) seek remedy when they acquire a defective product or service. The most important factor in their remedies, is the `feeling of being cheated?. 88,5% of the consumers state that the consumer health is not amply protected in Turkey, and the most important reasons for this inadequacy are considered to be the insufficiencies of inspections. Moreover, the consumers are considering the protection of consumer health a more important issue relative to the other consumer rights, in the EU adaptation process and wish the acceleration of the amendment works related to this subject
