Abduh Al-Rajihi and his approach to some linguistics

The most important aim of linguistics is to understand and explain the working of language. There is no doubt that the phenomenon of linguistics in the Arab geography first developed in order to better understand, preserve and explain the Qur'an. Our research includes Abduh Al-Rajihi's (1937-2010) views on linguistics. In the first part of our research, the conceptual framework, Al-Rajihi's life, works and the reflections of linguistics in the West and the Arab world are mentioned. In the second part, after examining the concepts of fiqhu'l-luga and ilmu'l-luga in detail together with Al-Rajihi's views, the language definition made by Ebu'l-Feth Osman b. Cinnî (392/1002) is analyzed together with Al-Rajihi's views. At the end of the chapter, researches about the birth of language and Râcihî's views are expressed. In addition, after making evaluations about the development of the language and its dialects within the framework of Al-Rajihi's views, Al-Rajihi's thoughts on the Arabic dialects in the Qur'anic recitations are presented.
