Abstract (EN)

In this study, Abdülhak Şinasi Hisar's work titled "Boğaziçi Mehtapları" (Moonlights on the Bosporus) that is comprised of seven chapters is examined in order to determine the style of the author, and to reveal how his emotions, thoughts and observations are transformed into surface structure. Sixty pages of the book, which corresponds to thirty percent of the book, is examined in terms of sentence types, including pages from the beginning, middle and end of each chapter in the book. It is aimed for examined sentences to shed light on new studies that shall be made to demonstrate the expression power of Turkish. The study is comprised of two sections. In the preamble section; we provided information on the life, literary personality, understanding of language and style, and works of the author. In the first section, we provided various opinions on definition and classification of sentences, and we determined the path that shall be followed during the study. In the second section, which constitutes the basis of the study, sentences that are selected out of the work titled "Boğaziçi Mehtapları" (Moonlights on the Bosporus) were separated into their components, were examined by sentence structure and type and meaning of the verb they contain, and statistical data of sentences were revealed under such headings. At this stage, sentences that shared the same sentence pattern were written one under the other. In the conclusion section, findings that are obtained in the present study are listed and are shown in tables.
