Abstract (EN)
In this study, it is aimed to investigate maturation analyzes of Lower and Middle Eocene rocks which form the Absheron peninsula in the east of Azerbaijan. Azerbaijan land is geologically included in the Alpine orogenic belt. In Azerbaijan, there are Paleogene-Neogene units and Upper Cretaceous sedimentary units containing organic matter. These units are grouped locally under the name of Productive Formations in the Absheron region and consist of limestone, sandstone and claystone. The productive formations in the study area were sampled from rocks with high organic matter content (in Lokbatan and Gobustan regions). The reflectance / reflectance values (Rmax-Ro-Rmin) of the samples taken from the Gobustan and Lokbatan Formations were determined on the polishing blocks prepared in the laboratory under the microscope. From these polishing blocks give the kerogen reflectances of the sampled units, they were interpreted. According to the measurements of the reflectance values; %Ro values range from 0.47 to 0.68. In the Lokbatan region (Productive Formation) reflectance (%Ro) 0.56-0.68; in the Gobustan region (Productive Formation) %Ro; 0.47-0.55. When the samples taken from Lokbatan and Gobustan mud volcanoes were classified according to the sampling places, it was determined that the mudstone-weighted units of Ipresian-Lutetian-Bartonian (Lower and Middle Eocene) age are at the maturation levels. Maturation levels of Lokbatan and Gobustan mud volcanoes of the Ipresian-Lutetian-Bartonian (Eocene) age are related to the diagenesis / metagenesis phase of the units. As a result, it is thought that common landslides in the region are related to the effect of pressure which is one of the factors of clay minerals determined in the maturation analyses. In this study, according to the maturation levels calculated in Lökbatan and Gobustan Mud volcanoes; high porosity, mudstone weighted units are suitable for oil migration, dry gas (methane) and natural gas potential is high. In addition, it has been noticed that the sampling sites indicate the suitability that can be correlated. It is thought that conducting these correlation studies with deep drillings will determine the areas that may be oil-natural gas reservoir rock.
