Accounting education: A comparative analysis of offering bachelors degree in Turkey and Iraq

Accounting is a very strong pillar for modern business as it keeps track of transactions and cash flow. Without accounting, businesses will be running less efficiently and thus bankruptcy and total collapse will be the fate of these businesses. The role accounting plays is augmented by auditing in business and governance. On the other hand, stock exchange markets also have a role in developing the accounting system. The international standards in accounting are prepared following the developments in stock markets. The tax income for the governments also depends on a true and strong accounting system. This two help to check internal and external financial misappropriation and reduce the rate of corruption. The general objective of this study was to compare and assess the effectiveness of accounting education based on the popular models used in Turkey and Iraq. By studying the difference in models of accounting and auditing, and their effectiveness in improving the accounts of businesses whilst reducing misappropriations, recommendations were made forthwith. A literature review was chiefly used in this research followed by some inquiry. This study thus takes us back in space and time, explaining the motivating factors to the choice of modern accounting and auditing systems, it stipulates the tenets of international accounting institutions and juxtaposes that with the instructional methods and teaching technologies for accounting and auditing in Turkey and Iraq. It is recommended that further studies using quantitative data should be carried on and the introduction of the use of accounting and auditing technologies be introduced in the educational system in Iraq.
